Top Performances

Jamario Kitchens (Jefferson Co.)

Rushed for 189 yards and 3 TDs on just 6 carries and tallied 4 tackles on defense in the Warriors 28-15 win over Oglethorpe.

Jontavious Curry (Thomson)

Rushed for 101 yards and a pair of scores on just nine carries as the Bulldogs remained unbeaten with a win over Cross Creek.

Xzavier Green (Westside)

Green continues to be red-hot with 152 yards rushing and a pair of TDs on 23 carries on offense, chipping in 4 tackles on the defensive side of the ball as Westside blanked Butler 33-0.

Mario Jones (Barnwell)

Jones piled up 185 yards rushing and 3 TDs on just 8 carries for the Warhorses. He also had a pair of tackles on defense in Barnwell’s 69-14 victory over Williston-Elko.

Charlie Dorsey (Burke Co.)

Dorsey carried the ball 13 times for 168 yards and a TD as the Bears topped Harlem 41-7. Dorsey and his teammate travel to Thomson for a huge showdown this weekend. The game will be featured on WJBF’s Game Night Live at 7:30pm Friday Night (Channel 380 on Comcast and 246 on WOW!). It is also streamed on the WJBF App.

Eric Grant (Hephzibah)

Grant made a trio of spectacular catches in Hephzibah’s win over Richmond Academy. He finished with 5 catches for 70 yards and 2 touchdowns and was featured on ESPN’s “You Got Mossed” segment.

Jaylen Golphin (Burke Co.)

Golphin had 2 catches for 49 yards and a TD receiving. He also picked off a pass and returned it 35 yards for a score in Burke Co.’s 41-7 win over Harlem.

Jonah McCary (Saluda)

Was 12 of 18 passing for 196 yards and 3 TDs in Saluda’s 46-26 win over Newberry.

Montrevious Baker (Saluda)

Rushed for 152 yards and 2 scores to help guide Saluda to a 20-point win over Newberry.

A’Chean Durant (McCormick)

Durant, the younger brother of Duke star Mataeo Durant, rushed for 125 yards and a TD on offense and had an interception on defense as McCormick topped Whitmire 28-0.

Sports Columnist - Ashley, or “A.B.” as he is known, was born and raised in the Augusta Area, graduating from Lakeside High School in 1989. Ten years later, he was invited back to give the Commencement Address at the School’s Graduation Ceremony. He attended Columbus State University on a basketball scholarship. Following his college career, he moved back to Augusta and began a career as a radio talk show host that lasted for 21 years.
