At Home Group Inc., the Texas-based chain of home décor retailers, maybe filing for bankruptcy soon, according to reports that have circulated since March.

While there has not been official word from Hellman & Friedman, the private equity firm that owns At Home, on the matter—including whether At Home is considering closing any of its stores — it has been experiencing money troubles over the past several months, intensified by the U.S. tariffs.

At Home sells a wide range of home products, from indoor and outdoor furniture, to kitchenware and bedding, most of which are manufactured in China. As such, the retailer has sought to shift its supply chain elsewhere, such as India.

On May 23, At Home entered into a forbearance agreement with its lenders that runs through the end of June, according to Bloomberg, after failing to make an interest payment on May 15.

At Home has some 250 stores nationwide, including its Augusta West Parkway location, which opened in 2018. It nearest Georgia stores are in Athens and Pooler.
