Friends and family of a young Augusta man are remembering the avid motorcyclist after his death Saturday afternoon on Riverwatch Parkway, the third biker death in four months.

Shane McCullough, 22, lost control of his motorcycle in the eastbound lane of Riverwatch Parkway near Eisenhower Park and hit a guard rail, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at 4:05 p.m. Saturday, Coroner Mark Bowen said. An autopsy has been scheduled.

McCullough’s social media pages are filled with images of him enjoying his Suzuki motorcycle.

“RIP Shane McCullough. Gone but never forgotten,” said Dustin Rickerson on Facebook. “We’ll ride again one day.”

Allen Winburn wrote this: “I’m lost for words. I can’t believe ur gone bro. U had an impact on everyone u met man. u will be missed!!! I’ll see u again.”

The death marks the latest in a series of motorcycle fatalities in Augusta, including others on Riverwatch Parkway:

• On Oct. 17, Jeremiah Anderson crashed on Riverwatch Parkway, just west of the canal, killing the 25-year-old Virginia man. The coroner said he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding and crashed into the guardrail and died.

 • On Aug. 15, Melvin Morrison was riding a dirt bike on Old McDuffie Road when he tried to pass a school bus that was turning. The 45-year-old Augusta man crashed into the bus and was killed instantly.

• On June 26, Samuel Stevenson lost control of his motorcycle and crashed while traveling north on the 5400 block of Deans Bridge Road.  Stevenson, 74, was pronounced dead on the scene.
