An Augusta boy was found fatally shot early Tuesday at Richmond Summit Apartments, authorities said.

Buddy Brown, 13, was shot at least one time at the downtown apartments where he lived. He had gone outside to pick up a DoorDash delivery and never made it back inside the building, Coroner Mark Bowen said.

His mother and father were notified of the death. No suspect or motive was announced.

“The investigation is in its early stages, and there is no further information available at this time,” sheriff’s Sgt. John Perry said.

An autopsy has been scheduled.
