Ameris Bank cut the ribbon at its new offices along the Walton Way Extension corridor on Wednesday, Sept. 21 during a catered, public grand opening ceremony.

This is the bank’s second Augusta location, which began construction in December of last year. Its first location in the area, a by-appointment-only mortgage office on Perimeter Parkway, opened in 2018. Several team members of the earlier Augusta branch were transferred to the Walton Way site.

Ameris has nearly 300 locations throughout the country, most of them in the Southeast, including 55 in Georgia.

“Augusta has got a pretty solid economy,” said Augusta Market President Cameron Nixon. “With the growth of Fort Gordon, growth of the medical college, the cyber world and our strong industrial base, there’s a lot of opportunities for companies to do well here. And so banks are going to help support that growth.”

Nixon, who was regional president of Cadence Bank before joining Ameris in 2020, describes the company as “big enough to be relevant, and small enough to focus on the customer service,” underscoring both its origins in Moultrie, Ga. in 1971 and its specialties in business-tailored services such as wealth management and premium financing.

“We’ve got loan programs to help companies grow. We’ve got people who know what they’re doing, and people who know the community,” he said. “That separates us from everyone else.”

Ameris Bank is located at 3626 Walton Way Ext., Bldg. 100. The mortgage office is at 2743 Perimeter Parkway, Bldg. 200 Suite 107.
