Timms Harley-Davidson of Augusta, located at 4200 Belair Frontage Rd., will break ground for a new building at a nearby location later this year or in early 2022.

The new site will be at 129 Mason McKnight Jr. Pkwy., near Gander RV and Outdoors of Augusta.

Owner Rocky Timms is excited for the freedom the new location will provide.

“I bought the store five years ago. I leased the building, and my lease is up in a few years. I’m just ready for a bit more room and a fresh start,” Timms said.

He said that the new 6.5-acre location will have space for outdoor events and entertainment as well as a motorcycle riding academy.

At this point, Timms is working on civil engineering documents. The plan is to break ground later this year and for the construction to begin in January.

“I would love to start moving dirt later this year and begin that building process come January, which will probably take about a year,” Timms said. “And we will stay at our current location until the doors open at the new place and try to make that a smooth transition.”

Timms said the new location will bring more than just extra space.

“It’ll be a better location to bring people in off the interstate, and being in a place where people are already shopping for like-minded products, being right next to Gander Mountain,” Timms said. “They sell campers, fishing equipment, guns. And more businesses will come to that area and that will generate more door swings.”

The motorcycle certification area is also a key to the new location.

“I’m excited for the training program. There are plenty of people that would love to ride or think they would love to ride, but you need experience. The road is not always the best place to do that,” Timms said. “I think it’s going to be really good for the community to have that there.”

Timms said there are other businesses coming to the area that aren’t public knowledge yet, but he said the location will be a hub for like-minded consumers in the coming years.
