An Augusta man was arrested Sunday after a 17-year-old girl reported being sexually assaulted over the weekend.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, the girl was taken to Piedmont Hospital, where she shared her account of the incident with authorities. She told investigators that she met the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Sangwook Han, at Solé Augusta on Broad Street on Friday night.

After consuming a shot at the bar, she began to feel unwell. The suspect offered her a ride home, but instead took her to his apartment, where the assault allegedly occurred. She said he put her on a mattress, took her clothes off and raped her, according to authorities. She said she told him to get off her several times, and he didn’t.

Following an investigation, Han was arrested and charged with one count of rape. He remained in the Charles B. Webster Detention Center on Wednesday night without bond.

Representatives of Solé Augusta declined to comment Wednesday about the teen’s claims of drinking at their restaurant, but a hostess confirmed earlier that they heard about the alleged sexual assault and were working with authorities on reviewing surveillance video.
