Date: November 04, 2025

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the Oct. 25 shooting that injured two people at The Finish Line Café on Wrightsboro Road.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old DeMarcus Hill was charged Monday with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Deputies responded to the bar, located at 3960 Wrightsboro Road, around 10:57 p.m. Oct. 25 after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found Stedman Grant lying in front of the door with a gunshot wound to the thigh. Deputies rendered aid until EMS arrived and transported him to the hospital.

Investigators later learned that Hill and Grant had been involved in an argument that escalated into a physical altercation. Both men allegedly drew firearms and exchanged gunfire inside the business. Hill was taken to Doctors Hospital by private vehicle, where deputies made contact with him.

Both Grant and Hill were hospitalized following the incident. Evidence from the scene was turned over to investigators Charlie Walker and Tanner Baughman, who continue to handle the case.

The shooting drew a heavy law enforcement response from both the Richmond County and Columbia County sheriff’s offices, which credited their close cooperation for the quick response that night.

The Finish Line Café later confirmed the shooting on social media, assuring customers that staff members were unharmed.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.
