Augusta man dies after Easter fire at home on Crested Butte Road

Richmond County authorities are investigating a tragic incident involving an Easter fire-related death on 4676 Crested Butte Road in Augusta.

The victim has been identified as 62-year-old Antonio Bernard Jones. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported Jones to Doctors Hospital following the fire incident, where he was pronounced deceased at 6:49 p.m.

According to reports from the Augusta Fire & EMA Twitter page, firefighters responded to a blaze on Crested Butte Road at 6:14 p.m. on Easter Sunday. Upon arrival, responders found one individual inside the property.

Despite the efforts of emergency personnel, Jones succumbed to injuries sustained during the fire. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation by authorities.

An autopsy has been scheduled by the Coroner’s Office to determine the exact cause of Antonio Bernard Jones’s death.
