Augusta man found guilty in East Augusta homicides, feticide

PRATHER, TYLER -- 5/13/2021 -- Murder x2, Aggravated Assault x2, Possession of Firearm or Knife During Crime

Date: May 16, 2025

An Augusta man accused of killing his pregnant sister and another woman and shooting his mother was sentenced Thursday to four life sentences.

Tyler Dashawn Prather, 25, was charged with murder in the May 2021 deaths of Tishaa Moulton and Latoya Oglesby at Magnolia Court, the former River Glen complex in East Augusta. Prather reportedly started shooting after an argument broke out between Oglesby and his relatives.

Moulton was Prather’s sister and a mother of four who was pregnant, according to a statement from District Attorney Jared Williams’ office.

In addition, Prather was charged with the non-fatal shootings of two other women, one of whom was his own mother, the statement said. He’s been in jail since May 14, 2021.

A Richmond County jury took less than an hour to find Prather guilty on all counts, the statement said.

Superior Court Judge John Flythe sentenced Prather to three consecutive sentences of life without parole for the murders and another life sentence for feticide, plus 130 years in confinement.

Assistant District Attorneys Deshala Dixon and Alex Pacheco prosecuted the case. Williams noted that Dixon, deputy chief of the office’s special victims’ unit, tried the case on her birthday.

“Nothing is more important to her than getting justice for families and keeping our community safe,” he said. “She exemplifies the sacrifice and dedication of your District Attorney’s office.”
