Augusta man is fatally shot on Lumpkin Road

An Augusta man died Saturday morning after being shot on the street where he lived on Lumpkin Road, authorities said.

James Brinson, 42, was found in the yard at 2823 Lumpkin Road around 8 a.m. Saturday when deputies responded to a shooting. The victim was transported to Augusta University Medical Center where he died from his injuries.

Sheriff’s Sgt. John Perry said the investigation was in its early stages.

No suspect or motive was released.
