Augusta Man Killed After Vehicle Leaves Road & Overturns in Creek

The Coroner’s Office is investigating a fatality that occurred Monday morning on I-520 at Doug Barnard Parkway in Augusta.

Richard Flinchum, 26, of the 3700 block of Clanton Road, Augusta, was pronounced dead on the scene at 7:55 a.m. Monday, Coroner Mark Bowen said in a press release.

During the single-vehicle accident, Flinchum’s vehicle left the roadway at the bridge, ran into the creek and overturned.

“Flinchum was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from vehicle,” Bowen said.
