Augusta man killed at Club Rain on Gordon Highway

An Augusta man was fatally shot overnight Saturday at Club Rain on Gordon Highway, authorities said.

Chrishawn Bennelle Martin, 22, was shot at least once and died from his injuries after being rushed to Well Star MCG Health, Coroner Mark Bowen said. He was pronounced dead at 2:11 a.m. Saturday.

Sheriff’s investigators were called to the hospital about the victim and later learned that the shooting happened at Club Rain at 1855 Gordon Highway.

No arrest or motive has been announced. “The investigation is ongoing with no further information available at this time,” sheriff’s Sgt. Caleb Lee said in a press release.

The victim was already being remembered online by friends and family.

Jeffrey Kruger said Martin was one of his biggest supports in the rap world.

“Yu just wanted to get yu some money man,” he wrote on Facebook. “Yu never hated on nobody yu wanted to see everybody eat. I ain’t think our last conversation was gone be 2 days ago. Yu don’t even rap but wanted to get on one my songs. Damn Chrishawn Martin. i love ya lil bro.”
