(UPDATE WITH ARRESTS)

An Augusta man was killed Thursday afternoon in a shooting on Kensington Drive South, and two people have been arrested, authorities said.

Marquez “Quez” Bokknight, 24, was shot near his home and died at 3:05 p.m. Thursday after being rushed to Augusta University Medical Center, Coroner Mark Bowen said.

The victim lived on Georgetown Drive, a half-mile away from where he was shot.

Tevin Deshon Lloyd, 23, and Isaiah Jeremiah Lyles, 22, have both been charged with murder in the Bokknight’s death, according to authorities.

In addition, Lyles is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and weapon possession. Lloyd is believed to be the shooter, leading to charges of weapon possession and aggravated assault since Lyles was also shot in Thursday’s gunfire. Lyles is shown in a hospital gown in his Thursday night mugshot.

Because of previous felony convictions, Lyles was also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Lloyd has previous convictions for armed robbery in Columbia County as well as dealing marijuana in Richmond County on two different occasions, which both led to probation. He was never given prison time for his felonious acts.

Witnesses in the neighborhood report hearing multiple gunshots around the time of Thursday’s shooting, including one resident who said she heard 16 rounds go off.

Bokknight was a 2017 graduate of Westside High School, a young father and previously worked at Chick-Fil-A, according to online records.
