Date: November 04, 2025

Investigators are searching for an Augusta man accused of carrying out a violent brick attack that left another man seriously injured during a Halloween party over the weekend.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, 40-year-old Dexter Travis Nelson is wanted in connection with an aggravated assault that occurred around 1 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 2000 block of Eastland Drive.

Deputies say Nelson was attending a Halloween gathering when an argument broke out. Witnesses told investigators that Nelson allegedly picked up a brick and struck a 54-year-old man several times in the head and hands, knocking him unconscious.

The victim was taken to Wellstar MCG Health, where he was treated for severe head injuries. Doctors reported that the man suffered deep lacerations that required a total of 10 staples to close, seven to the back of his head and three to the top.

Nelson is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds. Authorities believe he may have family ties in Wrens, Georgia, and could be staying in that area.

Anyone with information about Dexter Nelson’s whereabouts is urged to contact Investigator Terence Miller or any member of the Violent Crimes Division at (706) 821-1453, (706) 821-1020, or (706) 821-1080.
