Augusta man wanted for murder of his younger brother

Donnell Mitchell

Date: March 22, 2025

Richmond County authorities are searching for 35-year-old Donnell Mitchell, who is wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of his younger brother, 28-year-old A’kki Pauley on Wednesday.

Victim A’kki Pauley

The shooting occurred on the 1900 block of Dabney Drive, authorities said. After being transported to Wellstar MCG Hospital in a private vehicle, Pauley was pronounced dead.

A second victim, 33-year-old Quaderro Hooper, was also injured with multiple gunshot wounds, which was later determined to be from the same incident on Dabney Drive. Authorities say Mitchell started to fire his weapon after a fight erupted outside the home.

Quaderro Hooper was held after treatment for the shooting for “other authorities.” He is no longer in the Richmond County Jail.

Mitchell is considered armed and dangerous, and authorities are urging the public to contact them with any information about his whereabouts.

In a 2018 police report, Mitchell referred to Pauley as his brother. At the time, both were involved in a shots-fired incident at Soultry Sounds on Ellis Street, where Mitchell had described Pauley standing outside a Cadillac Escalade when shots rang out. The two were briefly detained but later released.

Anyone with information about Donnell Mitchell’s location is encouraged to contact Investigator Courtland Harris or any Violent Crimes Investigator at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1020 or 706-821-1455.

Meanwhile, a balloon release to remember Pauley is set for 5 p.m. Sunday at the Henry Brigham Community Center, where the color theme is red and white balloons.
