Augusta man wanted for shooting at Walker Estates

A suspect is wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred Tuesday night at Walker Estates Apartments on Peach Orchard Road in Augusta.

Rodrigus Antaun Freeman, 41, is wanted for aggravated assault after allegedly shooting a man late Tuesday night. The victim was transported to Wellstar MCG Health in critical condition.

Richmond County deputies responded to the scene at 11:20 p.m. Witnesses at the scene identified Freeman as the shooter and later picked him out in a photo lineup.

Warrants have been issued for Freeman’s arrest. He is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing approximately 180 pounds, and is known to frequent the High Street area in Augusta.

Authorities consider Freeman armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Investigator Tanner Baughman or any on-call investigator at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1097 or 706-821-1020.
