Augusta Museum of History to open annual holiday Gingerbread Village

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Graniteville was recreated by Lauren Virgo for the 2024 Gingerbread Village.

Date: November 20, 2025

The Augusta Museum of History will open its Annual Holiday Gingerbread Village on Thursday, Nov. 20, offering visitors a festive lineup of handcrafted gingerbread structures inspired by historic landmarks across Georgia and South Carolina.

The exhibit will run daily from Nov. 20–30, except for Thanksgiving Day. According to the museum, this year’s village will honor America’s 250th anniversary by featuring gingerbread versions of historic buildings established in the 1700s and 1800s.

All pieces are created by local artisan bakers, and admission to the display in the museum’s rotunda is free, according to a press release from the Augusta Museum of History.

Guests are invited to bid on the gingerbread houses and cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award.

The museum will also host Gingerbread Fun Day on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 1 to 3 p.m.

The Georgia Veterans Guitar Ensemble will perform holiday music in the rotunda at 1 p.m., followed by children’s crafts in the Garden City Room from 1:30 to 3 p.m. A reading of “The Gingerbread Man” is scheduled for 2 p.m.

All activities are free and open to the public, according to a press release from the Augusta Museum of History.

Founded in 1937, the Augusta Museum of History is the only museum in the CSRA accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. Its collection ranges from a 10,000-year-old projectile point to a 1914 locomotive and James Brown memorabilia.

The museum is located at 560 Reynolds St.
