On June 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., downtown’s Augusta Museum of History will be kicking off the summer for families by hosting the Shade Tree A’s in honor of their 50th anniversary– a local chapter that was chartered by the Model A Ford Club of America.

According to a press release from the museum, the Model Ford A, also known as an A-Model, was in production for a handful of years between 1928 and 1931. It originally replaced the Model T, which had been in production for 18 years before. Ford produced 4.8 million Modal A’s in various body types, and offered buyers elegant styling and superb engineering.

Prices ranged for the new Model A from $385 for a roadster to $570 for a top-of-the-line Ford.

Located at 560 Reynolds St., visitors will be invited to explore approximately 40 vehicles which will be displayed in the museum’s parking lot for free, while one special vehicle will be on view inside the museum’s Rotunda.

Inside, the museum offers a 1914 locomotive, James Brown memorabilia, special golf displays and pop culture collections that aim to tell attendees the history of Augusta.

Museum admission is $5 for adults, $4 older adults and military, $3 for children ages 6-18 and free for those 6 years old and under.
