With temperatures once again dropping, Augusta is opening and providing transportation to warming centers.
According to a news release from the city, free transportation will be provided to three overnight community shelters at Augusta Rescue Mission, 526 Walker St. (Route #3 Gold Line/East Augusta), Garden City Rescue Mission, 828 Fenwick St. (Route #6 Brown Line/Gordon Hwy) and the Salvation Army Center of Hope (1384 Greene St. (Route #3 Gold Line/East Augusta) starting Monday, Dec. 11 until further notice.
The pick-up location will be at the Broad Street Transfer Facility, 1546 Broad St., at 3 p.m. and run until 7:30 p.m. Those who are unable to get to the transfer facility and need a ride should call 706-821-1719 before 8 p.m.
Daytime shelters are also being opened for individuals in need during the day. These shelters are located at:
