Augusta Partnership for Children Inc. showed their support to around 100 citizens in need with a pull-up giveaway event on Wednesday.

Patrice Canty is responsible for connecting families to the organization’s resources as their first point of contact; she said that APC specifically offers prenatal resources and works with families who have children up to five years old.

The pull-up event, she said, is all about providing a sense of relief to families who need extra support.

“This is what Augusta Partnership is,” said Canty. “If there’s ever a family in need, it doesn’t matter your demographic, it doesn’t matter how much you make, it doesn’t matter how many kids you have. All we need is for you to come and let us know your need.”

Community members received bags with pull-ups, as well as toilet training books and baby wipes; all who received bags were entered to win a free children’s toilet.

‘It’s heartwarming to know that you’re able to help’

“It’s heartwarming to know that you’re able to help people out in the community hearing them saying how hard it is to access these types of resources and knowing that we can provide that resource for them,” said APC parent educator Kamisha Mew. “When my kids were younger and I needed diapers and wipes and formula and some of the resources that we provide, I didn’t know about a lot of places like APC, and so to be a part of it and to be able to help families who are in need, it’s a really good feeling.”

“It’s been a great experience,” said administrative assistant Cierra Cullars. “I wasn’t here when they did the last pull up event, and so now that I’m here to see how it actually unfolded is really great.”

APC holds quarterly giveaways. The next giveaway will be a diaper drive held in September.
