An Augusta man was caught with a 16-year-old boy outside a local elementary school and confessed to having sex earlier with the juvenile, authorities said.

Devin Michael Aikens, 29, of Augusta, was arrested Friday for aggravated child molestation and sodomy. The suspect identifies himself online as a photographer with his own business.

North Augusta police found the two inside a vehicle in the parking lot of North Augusta Elementary School. They said they had met on a dating site called Sniffies, which is a map-based hookup web app for gay, bisexual, and bicurious men.

The app features a map that shows the approximate locations of nearby users who are currently active or have recently been active on the platform, according to the Sniffies website. But the app indicates that its platform is offered to persons who are 18 years old or older. The map also shows the locations of groups and popular meeting places in the user’s area.

When police approached the pair in North Augusta, they admitted to having oral and anal sex around 11 p.m. on Dec. 26 at the suspect’s residence on Pleasantry Drive in Augusta, according to authorities.

Aikens was arrested and booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center, where he remained on Monday under no bond.
