Augusta Prep girls win seventh state soccer championship

The Augusta Preparatory Day School girls soccer team won its seventh state championship since 2014 when it defeated Holy Spirit Prep 3-0 Monday at Mercer University.

The Lady Cavaliers went 13-1-2 this season, with wins over Aquinas, Augusta Christian, Richmond Academy and Westminster, a tie at Greenbrier and their only defeat coming against Lakeside (1-0).

Augusta Prep scored 77 goals and allowed just 9 this season. In the past four seasons, the Lady Cavaliers have recorded a combined 43-4-5 record, with three state championships.
