Augusta suspect wanted for robbery, sexual battery on stranger

Suspect Wandarius Hilquez Polen

Date: December 20, 2024

An Augusta man who is free on bond for a 2023 home invasion is accused of attacking, robbing and sexually battering a woman last week at a mobile home park on James Drive.

Wandarius Hilquez Polen, 22, is being sought for aggravated sexual battery, kidnapping and robbery Dec. 11, authorities said. He is described as 5’6” tall and 160 pounds, and he is known to frequent the James Drive and Boykin Road area.

The 40-year-old victim was hospitalized after the attack, and she said she did not know the man, only that he was riding a bicycle when the attack occurred around 1:51 a.m. on Dec. 11. She said he grabbed her from behind by the waist and put her on the wall and grabbed her neck. She said her necklace was taken and he then sexually assaulted her.

Polen was later identified as the suspect. He was freed on bond last year after his arrest for a home invasion, burglary, aggravated assault and weapons offense. The case has lingered in the courts without resolution. A 2021 felony theft charge also remains unresolved.

Anyone having contact with Polen or having knowledge of his whereabouts is asked to contact Inv. Ken Rogers or any Violent Crimes Investigator with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1020 or 706-821-1080.
