Augusta Technical College (Augusta Tech) has recently announced the 2023-2024 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference winners.

Hannah Cockrell, Eryn Jordan, and Jacob Golding from Augusta Tech have won national rankings at this year’s conference. They are all students in Augusta Tech’s Design and Media Production Technology degree.

Cockrell won a bronze medal in the t-shirt design contest, Jordan won a bronze medal in the screen-printing contest and Golding won a silver medal in the graphic communication contest.

SkillsUSA strives to motivate its members to become world-class workers, leaders, and responsible American citizens through developing personal, workplace, and technical skills based in academics.

The National SkillsUSA Championships took place June 24-28 in Atlanta. This conference is a showcase of career and technical education skills where students compete in 115 different trade, technical, and leadership fields.

“We are very proud of our students’ accomplishments,” said Sherrie Rowe, Augusta Tech’s SkillsUSA advisor. “By showing their dedication to excellence in occupational and leadership skills, these and the other students who participated in the SkillsUSA competition are true ‘champions at work.’”

A total of 1,250 gold, silver, and bronze medals were awarded to students during the awards ceremony on June 28 at State Farm Arena. Winners also received industry prizes, tools of their trade, and/or scholarships.

Two other teams from Augusta Tech competed in commercial drones and graphic sublimination printing, but both received 4th place finishes.
