Augusta Technical College has recently announced that Dr. Jermaine Whirl, president, has recently been awarded the 2024 George and Lucy Armstrong Alumni Award from Georgia Southern University.
“I’m humbled to be selected for this prestigious award provided by the Georgia Southern Alumni Association,” said Whirl. “My experiences there had an indelible mark on my higher education career.”
This award is given to an Armstrong alumnus or alumna who demonstrates the University’s core values, such as collaboration, academic excellence, discovery and innovation, integrity, openness and inclusion, and sustainability. Armstrong State University merged with Georgia State University in 2018. Whirl attended Armstrong State University for his second master’s degree in adult education and community leadership.
Whirl has been selected from a pool of candidates for his commitment and contributions to these values. His dedication to excellence and leadership has set him apart from the rest of the candidates.
