Augusta University is the top seed for the upcoming Peach Belt Conference Tournament

Augusta University captured the Peach Belt Conference’s regular-season championship on Saturday following the Jaguars’ victory at Clayton State and will be the #1 seed for the upcoming tournament.

The Jaguars last won the regular-season title in 2019, also winning their most recent PBC Tournament championship. The Jaguars have won a league-best 11 games in a row heading into the tournament, according to the Peach Belt Conference website.

With the 2021-22 men’s basketball season complete, the Peach Belt Conference has announced the bracket for the 2022 Tournament. The top eight teams in the league standings advance to tournament play, which will begin on Tuesday, March 1, with four quarterfinals games hosted by the higher seeds, the website said.

The winners of those four games will advance to the semifinals and finals, hosted by the highest remaining seed, on Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5.

Game times for Tuesday’s quarterfinals will be released by the league office on Monday morning. Information on tickets, brackets, schedules and more can be found on the men’s basketball tournament, https://peachbeltconference.org/tournaments/?id=27

Flagler fell in Saturday’s regular-season finale, but maintain the #2 seed for the PBC Tournament. The defending tournament champions, the Saints will host a quarterfinal game on Tuesday at home where they are 10-2 on the season. Flagler will attempt to become the first back-to-back tournament champions since the 2018 season.

Georgia College secured the #3 spot prior to Saturday’s overtime win against Columbus State and will host a quarterfinal for the second year in a row. The Bobcats will be seeking their first tournament title since 1999.

The University of South Carolina Aiken holds on to the #4 seed despite Saturday’s loss at North Georgia. The Pacers will host a quarterfinal for the third time in the last four years.

Columbus State falls to the #5 seed with Saturday’s overtime loss at Georgia College. Lander takes the #6 after extending their winning streak to three on Saturday with a win over Flagler. The Bearcats will make the trip to Milledgeville to take on Georgia College on Tuesday.

North Georgia upended USC Aiken on Saturday and are the #7 seed while Georgia Southwestern was also a winner in their regular-season finale last Wednesday and are the #7. UNG will play at Flagler on Tuesday while GSW will travel to Augusta.

All tickets for the PBC Tournament can only be purchased online starting on Monday morning.
