Augusta woman arrested for 2019 homicide

Richmond County investigators have made an arrest in connection with the three-year-old shooting death of Rommie Williams, 32.

Venus Latrice Shelton, 40, of Augusta, Ga. was arrested Aug. 31 and charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in reference to Williams’ death.

Williams’ body was discovered by his roommate Feb. 18, 2019 with an apparent gunshot wound, according to the sheriff’s office incident report. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

This case is still active, and no further details are being released at this time.
