Augustans have lots of opportunities to support local businesses and creatives, both this weekend and throughout the holiday season.

From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6, a small business expo will be at the Harlem Branch Library, 145 N. Louisville St.

About 45 shopping vendors will be present as well as games, live music and more, according to Amber King of Mama’s Sweet Spot Shoppe, the expo’s organizer and one of the sponsors.

All participating businesses donated an item for a raffle, and a local non-profit will be receiving the proceeds.

The hours are 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 5 and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6.

The event will feature the juried works of about 75 local and regional artists who create items such as soaps, jewelry, dog collars, pottery, candles, apparel and others.

Food from The Crazy Empanada, sweets from Ann’s Sweet Treats and Keallie’s Baking Co. and beverages from the Vibe Smoothie Bar will also be featured at the fair.

With all the buzz about supply chain problems and the possibility of having problems finding gifts during the holiday season, the handmade fair is a great place to find gifts, event coordinator Claire Riche said.
