In honor of the Masters annual competition, Augusta’s Topgolf is partnering with First Tee to invite more than 200 kids and families to enjoy Camp Jain, a golf-themed party, on Thursday, April 11.
Kicking off at 5 p.m., at 437 Topgolf Way, Topgolf’s Director of Entertainment Marketing Connor Smith said Camp Jain is an all ages golf summer camp where all attendees can feel like kids again.
“We’re trying to bring back the nostalgia of summer camp and growing up,” Smith said. “… we’ve have babies in strollers come to an 85-year-old trumpet player at the last one, so it’s about taking the fun of the Masters and putting our own Camp Jain spin on it.”
Camp Jain is named after golf’s first animated character, who endeavors to bring kids and families together through golf, and is more than just a logo, according to Smith.

“We are focused on character development and storytelling via an ecosystem driven by animated content, memorable experiences and consumer products for our community to enjoy,” stated a press release from Topgolf.
In an effort to redefine summer camp, the event will be a one-day golf getaway that will focus less on skill and prioritize having fun with the loved ones, creating core memories and building a healthy relationship with the sport.
For $35 a ticket, with each admitting 2 people, Smith said the event will feature a playground of games, water balloon tosses, painting azalea terracotta planting pots, arts and crafts, face painting, nostalgic music for adults, childhood treats and more.
“Camp Jain isn’t about dropping the kids off and saying ‘See you later.’ It’s a fun-filled day for family and friends to enjoy together,” stated a press release from Topgolf.

Taking over the venue and transforming Topgolf by decorating with a mix of unique, hand drawn and handcrafted elements of characters, event organizers said children will be surprised and delighted at every turn.
“A lot of times these golf events are very adult focused and we thought about how to get kids involved in the game … at the end of the day it’s about giving kids a version of the game that they can fall in love with,” Smith said. “We just want the kids to have a great time.”
Smith, an avid golf fan, said it was important to get children interested in the sport at an early age because golf, like many sports, can instill important life lessons.
“A single golf ball can be a metaphor for someone’s life,” he said. “Like, you get a great tee shot and everything is going well, and the next you’re in the water and you have to figure out how to persevere and figure out challenges.”
With a portion of sales benefitting the First Tee, Smith said the exciting camp was specifically designed to give back to the community by stepping away from the “extravagant spending” and “exclusivity” of the Masters event.
“Our whole goal at Topgolf is to break down some of those barriers,” he said. “We want to be super inclusive and democratize the game, so we are looking at Camp Jain as a chance to give back.”
According to Smith, Topgolf will donate $1 to the First Tee for every hour played at Topgolf Augusta during Masters Week, with a minimum guaranteed donation of $2,500.

“Let’s bring back summer camp,” Smith said. “I just hope families talk about how it was their favorite moment of Masters Week, and how they can’t wait to have it back.”
