Inviting guests to connect with local businesses and fellow garden enthusiasts, the 19th annual, weekend long, Home and Garden Show is set to begin this Friday in downtown Augusta’s Convention Center at the Marriott.
Free to the public and open to all ages, the first 100 people to attend each day will receive a free Home Depot bucket and will be able to enjoy multiple displays centered around various home projects – such as kitchen and bathroom improvement, roof and gutter care, windows, decks and more.
Participants can also get advice from several attending experts, including planting aficionados from Asclepias and More and local legend and interior designer Michael Siewert, also known as “Signature Mike.”
“I enjoy it, because I love to empower people,” said Siewert, who is traveling with the Home and Garden Show throughout the country this year. “I like to help educate people to make wise design decisions.”

With social media and the internet bombarding consumers with advice an advertisements, Siewert believes seeking advice from professionals can help people make smart decisions that can bring lasting home improvements.
“I think sometimes they do get lost,” he said. “It’s nice when you can actually meet with someone and talk … so it’s just great for people to really get acquainted with local businesses.”
Enter giveaways, collect a few more plants for the home, and dine on gourmet baked goods throughout the weekend at the Home and Garden Show, while learning about the best ways to improve one’s home.
With mattresses, pools and hot tubs, solar equipment, live cooking presentations and even pet adoptions, the convention will have countless exciting aisles of exhibits and demonstrations.
“It’s important for any community to have a local show like this, because it allows vendors and the demonstrators to showcase their new products,” said Siewert. “It not only showcases local businesses but boosts the economy.”
Among the booths, appearances will also be made by the Augusta GreenJackets’ baseball mascot “Auggie.”
For those with interested children, families can also enjoy a designated kid zone where Home Depot and CertaPro Painters of the CSRA are partnering to provide creative activities, such as clay pot painting and Valentine’s Day crafts.
With so many sponsors, vendors and businesses taking part in the show, there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.
“I enjoy all of it,” said Siewert. “It’s almost like going to a store that has bait of everything and going down a lot of aisles to take everything in – you never know what you’re going to get. It’s goods and services that we all need, so it’s good to know that we have them locally.”
The convention, hosted at Augusta’s Marriott, will be open on Friday at 2 to 6 p.m. at Two Tenth St. The Home and Garden Show will run on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
