Local eateries are gearing up for a specialty burger showdown as Augusta’s much anticipated Burger Battle returns this Monday night. Taking place at The HUB on 624 Chafee Ave. from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., this mouthwatering event promises a night of culinary delights powered by the Augusta Young Professionals Board.

Several area restaurants will go head-to-head, offering up samples of their finest specialty burgers to compete for the coveted title of Burger Battle Champion. All event guests will have the chance to try each creation and cast a vote for their favorite.

Competing restaurants include Abel Brown, Brinkley’s Chop House, Recteq, Midtown Tavern, Edgar’s Grille and Manny’s Sports off Broad.

Goal of the competition

Organized by the Augusta Young Professionals Board, an affiliate of the Boys and Girls Club (BGC) of Augusta, the event is aiming to promote awareness of the services offered by the BGC.

BGC of Augusta’s Volunteer and Engagement Coordinator, Abigayle Kelley, said this is one of the main events that keeps their organization running.

“We could not do what we do without this event and our other fundraising events,” she said.

As explained by Kelley,  the winner of Monday’s competition will earn a year of well-deserved bragging rights and a heavyweight belt engraved with their restaurant’s name. This belt can be proudly displayed in their establishment until the Burger Battle Rolls around.

There will also be a kids station where children can try their own burgers, play games, color and make s’mores.

Guests can also enjoy treats from Kona Ice, as well as live music performances.

“It’s just a family-friendly night for [guests] to come and hang out, try burgers, spend time together and see what Boys and Girls Club is about,” said Kelley.
