The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing; however, no restaurants received were rewarded with a failing score from inspections on Oct. 18-26.

Worst scores in this week’s health inspection

This week’s lowest health inspection score was a 78 earned by Baldinos, located at 2760 Tobacco Road.

The inspector noted seeing expired food in the walk-in-freezer and reach-in-cooler.

“Observed expired food in [walk-in-cooler] (steak) and [reach-in-cooler] (eggs),” the report stated.

The inspector also witnessed mold in an ice machine, which resulted in a four point reduction.

“Observed mold build up in ice maker,” the report stated.

Following the Baldinos inspection, the second lowest score of the week was an 81 given to Jerk City, located at 7016 Evans Town Center Blvd. in Evans.

The inspector reported observing the truck’s handwashing sink unusable due to a lack of power, and foods being stored at an improper temperature.

“Generator not on. Water must be on at all times at the hand sink,” the report stated. “Fridge at 49 degrees because generator not on. All cold foods and cold hold units must be at 41 degrees or below at all times.”

The third lowest score of the week was a score of 82 given to China 8, located at 2492 Tobacco Road, Augusta.

From the inspection, the inspector docked points for the restaurant not displaying the previous inspection score and employees not signing health agreements.

“Observed last inspection not posted at initial contact with the manager,” the report stated. “Observed not all employees have not signed health agreements. Employees that enter the kitchen or work in the kitchen should sign health agreements.”

In addition, the inspector noted seeing food items stored uncovered in coolers, which resulted in a four point reduction.

“Observed some items in [reach-in-cooler] and [walk-in-cooler] not covered,” the report stated. “A few items were covered with non-food grade material.”
