For the third time in two weeks, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office had to deal with a standoff and barricaded suspect.
At approximately 7 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, the RCSO and members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force attempted to arrest a federal fugitive, identified as James Jackson, 58, on charges of federal probation violations related to multiple narcotics and weapons possession charges, said RCSO Chief of Staff Lewis Blanchard. He added that Jackson has a history of resisting and fleeing from law enforcement.
When law enforcement approached, Jackson barricaded himself at a residence in the 2000 block of Clark Street, near Wood Street. This prompted the activation of the Richmond County SWAT Team for assistance. Tear gas was deployed inside the residence at approximately 8:03 a.m. and Jackson was taken into custody without further incident, Blanchard said.

Blanchard added that a second individual, Monica Rihm, 40, was arrested at the scene for an order to show cause/probation violation relative to narcotics.
