BCSO, Waynesboro Police investigating convenience store shooting

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office and Waynesboro Police Department are investigating a shooting at the Sunoco convenience store on Thursday.

According to a press release from the BCSO, at approximately noon on Thursday, authorities responded to a call about a shooting at the convenience store, located at 740 E. 7th Street in Waynesboro

“Preliminary investigation indicates that an altercation occurred inside the store, which escalated and resulted in a shooting. One individual sustained at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Burke Medical Center for treatment; their condition is unknown at this time,” said BCSO in a press release.

Due to this being an active investigation, no other information is available at this time.
