A Beech Island man faces a long list of felony charges after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and holding several people at gunpoint Monday night inside an Augusta home, according to Richmond County authorities.

Deputies said Dumarcus Lopez Hilton, 37, was charged Tuesday with robbery by sudden snatching, terroristic threats and acts, obstructing an emergency call, and three counts each of aggravated assault, kidnapping and false imprisonment. He was also charged with weapon possession and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. Monday at a home on Nordahl Drive in Augusta, where Hill allegedly became violent after accusing his 27-year-old girlfriend of cheating on him. Investigators said Hill choked the victim, preventing her from calling 911, and took her firearm after she tried to reach for it. He then threatened to kill her at gunpoint and forced her to remain inside the home against her will.

Authorities said Hill also locked the door and held multiple people in the home at gunpoint, threatening to kill everyone inside if his girlfriend did not comply.

The woman eventually managed to escape the home and run for help, deputies said.

Hill, who lists a Beech Island address on Neo Drive, was later taken into custody on multiple felony warrants.
