Matthews Motors expands
Matthews Motors announced the acquisition of Padgett Truck Bodies of Graniteville, S.C. April 4, and the launch of Matthews Truck Bodies.
“Matthews Truck Bodies fills a void in the Augusta area by allowing us to help both new and existing customers with their fleet needs. In addition to what we currently offer to our customers from the service and parts side of the truck bodies, we will add multiple well-known brands to our portfolio for new stock bodies and lift gates,” said Aaron Matthews, Matthews Truck Bodies CEO in a news release.
Matthews Truck Bodies will offer a variety of truck body, trailer, lift gates and commercial van modifications and organizational structures through vendors such as Palfinger, Stellar, CM Truck Beds, Ranger, Kargo Master, Tommy Gate, Dhollandia and Buyers.
“Now we will be able to sell, install and service multiple kinds of truck bodies such as service/utility bodies, crane service bodies, flatbeds, gooseneck trailer beds and more. We believe that these business partnerships will help us grow and fill the needs of all commercial truck applications from small to large fleets. We are excited to be able to expand further into this venture.” Matthews said.
Busby’s Cares
On April 6, Rick Busby with Busby’s Heating and Air presented Brandi Underwood, executive director of When HELP Can’t Wait, a $1,000 contribution as part of The Busby’s Cares Charitable Contribution initiative.

When HELP Can’t Wait works to supply needs for the comfort and convenience of nursing home residents who are at or below the poverty level, according to a news release from Busby’s Heating and Air.
Each month, a local charity receives a donation through Busby’s Cares.
North Augusta Chamber of Commerce ribbon cuttings
On March 29, the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce held two ribbon cuttings for area businesses.
McNeely’s Place Restaurant and Catering, 301 Georgia Ave., North Augusta, cut the ribbon to celebrate its soft opening.
Also, Day One Fitness, a non-profit that provides therapeutic exercise for people with neurological conditions, had a ribbon cutting. Day One is located at 257 Beech Island Ave. in Beech Island, S.C.
RD Brown named as a contractor for Golden Harvest Food Bank expansion
The Golden Harvest Food Bank board of directors recently announced that RD Brown has been awarded the phase one building project for the organization’s new volunteer center and office renovations.

This capital expansion is part one of two phases of projects which will increase the impact of the food bank to its 25-county service area, according to a news release from the food bank. The renovation will add nearly 5,000 square feet of volunteer space as well as a welcome area, conference, meeting and office space. Construction is scheduled to begin this spring.
