The Columbia County Board of Commissioners approved and presented a proclamation declaring September 2025 as National Recovery Month.
District 3 Commissioner Michael Carraway presented the proclamation to Columbia County Judge Jim Blanchard. He thanked Blanchard for his efforts to help those in recovery and asked others to support him in that mission. Blanchard thanked the commissioners for their support and the proclamation.
Commissioners approved an alcoholic beverage license for Vault 221 LLC, located on Appling Harlem Road, to sell beer, wine and distilled spirits for on premise consumption.

Also approved were two variance requests, one for placement of buildings and structures for a residence on Herrington Drive and the other for list of lot and structure requirements for a residence on Emerald Place.
Public comment
During the public comment portion of the meeting, a few speakers spoke about the library guidelines approved last year, claiming they are unconstitutional and asking the commissioners to rescind them.
Another community member expressed concern about the proposed data center in Appling.
