Board of Commissioners to discuss variance request for Parker’s Kitchen

The Columbia County Board of Commissioners will discuss a variance for the proposed Parker’s Kitchen at the intersection of Washington Road and Bobby Jones Parkway.

According to the agenda document, staff is recommending approval with conditions for the request for the variance to the remove the structural buffer and separation requirements along shared lot lines with residentially zoned property at 3900 Washington Road. 

The conditions include that the lighting will be shield and directed away from residential properties. The lighting on the southern end that is behind the building will be designed to as low height as possible while still allowing for safety. The buffers and separation requirements are reduced following the site plan given by EMC Engineering Service, Inc.

The Columbia County Planning Commission voted in favor of the proposal at the June 5 meeting.

A major revision and encroachment agreement to allow for Augusta Preparatory Schools to add a new entrance with masonry walls and signage along the frontage is also going before the commissioners.

Staff is recommending approval with the following two conditions:

  1. The wall height variance applies to finished masonry products only as proposed in the plan provided with this application. The approved height does not apply to chain link fencing
  2. Will need an easement encroachment agreement prior to approval for the fence and signs

A major PUD revision for 710 Point Bluff Parkway to a add a conditional use for retail package sales of distilled spirits for off-premise consumption will also go before commissioners. There were no objects at the Planning Commission and staff is recommending apprvoa.
