A suspect in another gang feud shooting that left an innocent person dead was denied bond Friday, Dec. 9 in Richmond County Superior Court.
Lamar J. Jones, 22, faces charges of murder in the Oct. 15 death of 20-year-old Tymarkes Starkes on Old Savannah Road.
Starkes was the second innocent victim gunned down that night in a drive-by shooting by gang members seeking retaliation but who shot innocent people instead, said Assistant District Attorney Keagan Waystack.
Starkes tried to run away from the shooters in a car that night, Waystack said.
Just hours earlier, 22-year-old Kyan Bowie was also gunned down in a drive-by shooting in Lake Olmstead on B Street. Neither man had anything to do with the ongoing dispute between two groups of Augusta men, Waystack said. It seems that the people seeking revenge don’t care who they hurt and kill, she said.
Jones has no criminal history, his attorney Aubree Smith noted. He was working and has family support.
Judge John Flythe denied bond.
