An Augusta man accused of involuntary manslaughter in an overdose death was denied bond Friday.

Kristopher Clark, 45, appeared before Richmond County Magistrate Chief Judge Carletta Sims Brown who declined to set bond for Clark who has a parole hold from Arkansas.

Clark was arrested Saturday, Feb. 20, on a charge of possession of alprazolam with intent to distribute. The manslaughter charge was added this week. According to the arrest warrant read by the judge Friday, Clark is accused of causing the death of Van Meadows on Feb. 10 when he traded heroin for LSD with Meadows and another man. Meadows later died.

Clark told the judge he was paroled in 2019 from Arkansas where he was convicted of manufacturing a controlled substances and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
