A Georgia man has been released on bond following his arrest for an alleged assault during a youth basketball tournament in North Augusta.
Officials at the Aiken County Detention Center said Jerome Mobley of Waynesboro had a bond hearing Wednesday morning. He posted bond of $1,087 and was released.
According to the incident report from the North Augusta Department of Public Safety, Mobley’s son was competing in the tournament. A player on the other team received a penalty for rough play.
Mobley confirmed he went onto the court to assist his son. Mobley said the player from the opposing team hit him, but a video showed Mobley was the primary aggressor.
Mobley was charged with assault and battery in the third degree.
