It’s the pregame tailgater and the aftergame party rolled into one family-friendly event at SRP Park.
Border Bash returns Sept. 17 for its 27th year after a COVID-19 induced hiatus in 2020.
“We’re hoping for a great crowd,” said Joe Stevenson, event promoter. “I think people are ready to get out, and from the looks of college games so far, people are ready.”

The annual event is a fundraiser for children’s related charities and happens on the eve of the University of Georgia-University of South Carolina game.
The University of South Carolina cheerleaders and Cocky are scheduled to appear at the event, but because of COVID restrictions, the University of Georgia cheerleaders cannot travel except to football games, Stevenson said.

“We couldn’t be more excited to be able to bring Border Bash back to the CSRA. 2020 was tough on all live events as well as those who love attending them, and we know the people of the CSRA are going to be excited to come back and celebrate this great football rivalry,” said Border Bash Foundation President Joel Simmons in a news release.
The event will feature entertainment with three bands — Band of Oz, Whiskey Run and Guns For Hire.

Band of Oz is a Raleigh, N.C.-based band known for its Carolina Beach Music sound. Whiskey Run and Guns For Hire are based in the area.
Also, members of Augusta West Dance will perform.
A variety of food and beverages will be sold, and beer, wine and liquor will be available as well.

The Border Bash moved to SRP Park in 2019. With the move came a couple of changes, according to Stevenson.
When the event was at the Augusta Common, people could bring chairs and their pets. At SRP Park, patrons can use the stadium seating, or they can bring blankets. No outdoor chairs are allowed, and no pets either.
