Eugene “Gino Rock” Brantley, a veteran law enforcement professional whose stance includes a commitment to community-oriented policing, is inviting the pubic to Thursday night’s official launch of his campaign for Richmond County sheriff.

The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 2) at the Hyatt House, 1238 Broad St., in downtown Augusta. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

In a press release, Brantley said his campaign centers on the principle of “Empower, Unite, Transform: Together for a Safer Community!” He said he is dedicated to being accessible, approachable and actively engaged as Sheriff.

With over two decades of law enforcement experience, Gino Rock’s journey began in 2000 as a road officer with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. For more than 16 years of service, he played a pivotal role in the Special Operations Housing Unit, his press release said. Gino also contributed to solving conflicts and preventing crime in government housing areas by fostering a connection with the community. His willingness to engage with residents, whether by playing basketball with kids or simply being present, paved the way for successful relocations.

In 2017, Gino transitioned to the Marshal’s Office, where he was promoted to sergeant, responsible for handling evictions.

“It’s important to remember all people are human and deserve respect, no matter what they’re going through,” he said in the release. “If you give respect, you’ll get it in return. The first step to policing a community is establishing a relationship with the people in it. It’s not always easy, but I enjoy helping people get through some of their toughest moments.”

The campaign kickoff event is open to the public. For more information about Eugene “Gino Rock” Brantley and his campaign, please visit his website at www.ginoforsheriff.com.
