The City of Grovetown officially began its Brush the Box campaign earlier this month.
Local artists will be painting electrical utility boxes around Grovetown to bring more art and beautify the city.
“The City of Grovetown is so excited to see progress being made for our Brush the Box campaign,” said Grovetown Public Information Officer Jordan Johnson in an email. “It really is a great little project to further beautify our city and we can’t wait to see each box upon their completion.”
“Riding through Augusta I often see their utility boxes, and I think it is pretty neat how they painted their utility boxes,” said Grovetown City Council Member Ceretta Smith. “I love art; I believe it adds something to your life, and it has certainly brought some life to the city of Augusta.”
There are five utility boxes located in the City of Grovetown.

Two of these boxes are located at Liberty Park. According to information presented at a previous council meeting, one box will be a playful child them, and the other will be a recreational theme. The utility box located near Barney’s Pharmacy in Grovetown will have a butterfly and flowers theme.
Another utility box located near Grovetown City Hall is planned with a train theme after the announcement of the new Grovetown Depot being built.
The final box located in Goodale Park will be designed in memory of Cpl. Joseph Daniel Goodall Jr. During his service in the Vietnam War, he was killed when he was only 20 on March 28, 1969.
No completion date has yet been announced for the boxes, but an unveiling ceremony is expected to occur at a later date.
