The Bruster’s located at 516 N. Belair Rd. in Evans will serve its last scoop on Friday, June 11 at 11 p.m., according to a Facebook post from the owners.
The post states that the owners received a generous offer for their real estate and it aligned with the owners’ plans to retire. A KFC will open in the ice cream shop’s place. The location opened in October of 2001.
“It’s been the joy of my life to own and manage, and we’re still going to be open at the Augusta store,” said the owner of the location, Stephen Foushee. “We just felt the timing was good.”
The Facebook post references that the Bruster’s Concession truck will still make stops around the area and will broadcast the stops ahead of time on their Facebook page.
“There is nothing we can’t do in the truck that we can do in the store itself,” Foushee said. “We started that in November of last year and we’ve done really well with it.”
As a thank you, the location will be handing out free single serving ice cream cones from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, June 11.
