Buildup in ice machine discovered in this week’s health inspections

The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing. No restaurants received a failing score from Feb. 12-Feb. 16, and the lowest scores were in the 80s. 

Jimmy John’s, 1129 Agerton Lane, Augusta scored the lowest with an 84. Some of the inspector’s comments included “observed black buildup inside the bulk ice machine” and “observed meat sitting inside prep sink of full water to thaw.” 

Other comments included “observed no Certified Food Protection Manager Certification,” “observed no employees health reporting agreements,” and “observed wet nesting of clean dishes.” 

The other low score was T’s Catering, 3416 Mike Padgett Highway, Augusta. Two of the mobile food trucks were inspected, and while one received a good score of 96, the other received a score of 86. Inspector’s comments included “observed cold holding TCS food held above 41F in the RIC on the mobile unit” and “observed most current inspection not posted on mobile unit.”

These businesses received an “A” rating (99-90) in their recent inspections between Feb. 12 and Feb. 16.

  • Hardee’s, 310 West Milledgeville Road, Harlem: 95
  • Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott (Food Service), 2175 Gordon Highway, Augusta: 93

Inspections by the Georgia Public Health Department are used to make sure residents and visitors are safe. These were the inspections performed between Feb. 12 and Feb. 16.
