The Butler Bulldogs defended their home field, as they defeated the Glenn Hills Spartans at Butler Stadium by a score of 30-7 Friday, Oct. 14.
The Spartans made a valiant effort, but the Bulldogs made several plays to push the game in their favor. In the first half, the Bulldogs (3-4) started off hot by jumping out to a first half lead behind quarterback Chris Hudson.
The Spartans (2-6) looked to score early with a red zone trip in the first quarter, but Gadiel Hernandez was unable to make the field goal attempt.

The Bulldogs were first on the board with a touchdown run in the second quarter. Hudson would cap off the touchdown by running for the 2-point conversion, making the score 8-0 with 7:30 left in the half.
The Spartans would then try to answer with a touchdown of their own but false start penalties by their offense derailed their momentum.
Before the first half ended, the Bulldogs would score again on a touchdown pass from Hudson with 0:54 left. He would also run for another 2-point conversion, and the score at the half was 16-0 in favor of Butler.
At the start of the third quarter, the Bulldogs would continue their success behind the running of Hudson, who ripped off a key 16-yard run that put the Bulldogs in scoring range.
Glenn Hills’ Frashawn Sankoh made two tackles for loss in the red zone, but Hudson would answer with a 5-yard touchdown run with 1:31 left in the quarter. Butler was unable to get the 2-point conversion, and the score was 22-0.
The Spartans had a late trip to the red zone in the fourth quarter, and they were able to cap it off with a touchdown pass from Cameron Marshall to Artez Smith at the 7:12 mark.
Gadiel Hernandez would make the extra point, making the score 22-7.

The Spartans would then attempt an unsuccessful onside kick, but they were able to recover a fumble by the Bulldogs and get the ball back.
The Spartans would look to bring the score closer, but Marshall threw an interception that resulted in a touchdown. Hudson would run for the 2-point conversion, and the score was 30-7 with 6:25 left.
Glenn Hills would then drive down the field, but the Spartans were unable to mount a comeback at the end of the game.
The next game for Butler will be on Friday, Oct. 21 against Washington County High School. Glenn Hills’ next game will be at home on Friday, Oct. 28 vs. Thomson.
