Wednesday, July 17

  • The Augusta Museum’s Brown Bag History Series lecture will be on How Architecture Records History, presented by Ellen Neal Pruitt. The event is scheduled for Wednesday July 17, at 12:30 pm. The lecture will focus on how architectural history gives us a glimpse into the past and how different cultures used buildings. The lecture will be held in the Museum’s History Theater on the second floor. Doors open at noon and the lecture begins at 12:30 p.m., followed by a brief Q&A. Brown Bag Lectures are free to members and $5 for non-members.
  • The Augusta Commission will meet for a work session to get guidance from The University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government about the preliminary process of considering the possible creation of a Charter Review Committee. The meeting will take place in the commission meeting chamber on the 2nd floor of the municipal building.

  • The Richmond County Board of Education will hold its committee and regular board meeting at 4 p.m. at the Board of Education office. The regular Board will immediately follow the committee meeting.

Thursday, Aug. 8

  • The Augusta Commission will meet for a work session regarding the Land Bank Authority from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Commission Chambers.
  • History will come alive at Augusta’s Night at the Museum. There will be two tours of the museum at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. for patrons to see the exhibits and learn about the historical figures who will be present. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for the 6 p.m. tour and 7 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. tour. Tickets are $100 for adults and $50 for military (active and veteran).   • The Color Run 5k will be held at Barton Field at Fort Eisenhower. This is an event for people of all ages and athletic abilities.   • Zoso, the Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience, will perform at Miller Theater. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the show will start at 7:30 p.m. Zoso formed in the mid-90s and have played over 4500 shows since then. They try to play as similarly as possible to the original band. This is part of their latest tour. Zoso is currently celebrating 29 years of being a Led Zeppelin tribute band.
