Days after Vance’s Bakery Bar announced its closing, Soca Vegan Kitchen on Crane Creek Drive has also announced that it’s ending its run.

“It is with great sadness that we must announce Soca Vegan Kitchen is closed, effective immediately,” reads a notice posted on the restaurant’s social media, Thursday. Owners Georgia Alexander and her mother, Diane Francis, thanked the customers who patronized the Caribbean-themed eatery over its two years in business.

Alexander, a U.S. Army veteran, originally opened the restaurant in summer of 2022, having developed the business through Make Startups, the entrepreneurial course by theClubhou.se.

The plant-based menu was chiefly inspired by cuisine from Alexander’s native Trinidad, with entrees making plenty use of plantains, potatoes rice, chickpeas, okra and other vegetables.

Alexander’s post concluded with an exhortation to “go and support other local family-owned businesses.”
